Re: John Toland
Fri, January 2, 2004 - 1:49 PMCool Guy that John Toland. I think you are setting us up because I see many of us follow the same path. Now I have 200 more books to read.....................................

The Irishman John Toland (1670-1722) journeyed from Catholicism to Presbyterianism to latitudinarianism (an extremely liberal form of Protestantism) to Deism to pantheism. Having studied at the universities of Glasgow, Edinburg, and Leyden, Toland set out to earn his way as a writer and as a publicist for Radical Whig causes. Nearly two hundred works are attributed to Toland; and, as the historian David Berman remarks, he "is perhaps the first professional freethinker."

Fri, January 2, 2004 - 5:01 PMNo setup Reverend, just looking for a copy of Toland's "Pantheisticon". Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it wasn't on that list either. I guess I will be going to the antique book stores for this one. My wallet is already crying in agony. LOL
