Which of the founding fathers were Deists & who were shown NOT to be or proven to be Xian?
I'm wondering about Thomas Jefferson. He was a Deist that held tolerance for other religious views right?

Another interesting point is that many of the founding fathers were Mason's. Mason's like Deists preach the acceptance of all men under one god; however their practices are bizarre and satanic.
Deists of course require reason and reject revelation. The claim that America was founded by Christian’s is weak; in fact, as I know the conservative Christian leadership; they would not tolerate any other religion (if they didn’t have to) and demand everything be modeled around the holy bible.
Founding Fathers that were Masons:
Signers of the Declaration of Independence:
Benjamin Franklin
Robert Treat Paine
John Hancock
Richard Stockton
Joseph Hewes
George Walton
William Hooper
William Whipple
Signers of the U.S. Constitution:
Gunning Bradford, Jr.
John Blair
Benjamin Franklin
David Brearley
Nicholas Gilman
Jacob Broom
Rufus King
Daniel Carroll
James McHenery
Jonathan Dayton
William Paterson
John Dickinson
George Washington (a Mason at some point, all though he may have pulled away later)
(((I copied the above list and have not taken the time to verify each name)))
My final comment would be that whatever we read about politicians should always be taken lightly as they say and do what is best for their political survival. Add the complexity of asking questions about politicians who lived over 200 years ago and frankly I seriously doubt there is much more than a shred of truth remaining after ten generations of politically correct historical revision.
One thing that is for sure is that none of these men ever imagined a United States government run by global corporations. -

Wed, March 8, 2006 - 1:19 AMBizarre, yes. Satanic? Yes, the foundation of the White House was christened with virgin blood. Where the hell did you get satanic from? Seems kinda wierd that a bunch of satanists would create the freest form of government at that time in history. All the rest I agree with, actually old hat. The bird's eye view of capitol hill and the mall make the masonic symbol. In a painting of the founding fathers signing the declaration of independence George is wearing a masonic apron. Of course all you have to do is watch National Treasure to get the full historic truth on that topic *snicker*. -

Re: Which of the founding fathers were Deists?
Wed, March 8, 2006 - 10:16 PMDidn't mean to hit a nerve with the Satan comment.
I have read numerous references to their rituals and symbolism which are far cries from dear sweet and wholesome Mother Nature ceremonies and symbols.
For example: Higher degrees must participate in rituals such as drinking wine from a human skull while kneeling at a black altar with serpents behind it. They are blindfolded during the ritual and then pushed backwards into a coffin.
They worship a Baphomet; goat heads, pentagrams, and their connection to the Knights Templar who admitted to urinating on crosses while kissing each other all smell satanic to me. It could all be baloney, but men have ways of covering up what goes on behind closed doors.
There are obviously many divisions of masonry and I have never been involved with any of them.
They call God the Sovereign Grand Creator of the Universe or Great Architect of the Universe - GAOTU. I personally like this undefined god, but again this could include Satan or other demonic entities. -

Re: Which of the founding fathers were Deists?
Thu, March 9, 2006 - 10:45 AMSome of what you read is true, and some is twisted christian (Catholic/Baptist) propoganda. I myself am not a mason, and I feel no strong urge to defend them, but does it make sense that the men who founded America were pissing on crosses? They were diests and sometimes athiests but not crazy. America on paper (the Constitution) was a great idea, giving all the freedom and resoponsibility to the people. Unfortunately America on paper never actualized, at least not for very long. Even then, America was the freest country on earth for a long time. IMO, the change began with the Civil War, perhaps unintentionally, but it has continued till America is an icon of imperialism, materialism and corruption instead of the icon of hope and freedom it used to be. Either way, logically it makes no sense that "satanists" would found a democratic republic. (Note: I personally believe the pop culture "satanists" do not exist per se. I know some satanists and none of them shit on crosses or eat babies. People that do that kind of stuff are called psychopaths.) If "satanists" were to found a country, I would tend to think it would be more like what America is today.
Anyway, with a little more research into masons, not written by catholics or baptists, I think you'll find they're not "satanic", just like pagans who worship the goat-footed horned god Pan are not "satanic". But that's not what this thread is about, so let's skip the rest of the conversation for another thread or another tribe, cool? -

Re: Which of the founding fathers were Deists?
Fri, March 10, 2006 - 12:23 AMSure, I enjoy yaking with anyone about anything, this is the joy of Tribes. BTW, I have three son's and one looks 90% like me, your son on the right looks a 100% like you, its really something...
I agree with you about America. I am not that old, but I was raised by elderly people and my childhood was great and my son's and grandson have no idea, it's all about materialism and globalization now.
Take Care.
